I know. This is truly a tragedy. When indigenous language is lost, along with it goes part of a culture and a way of being. This unfortunately happens largely as a result of colonization that the whiteys are so historically fond of doing.
It is also another way of stripping difference and forcing people to conform to the dominant power as “right”. This force comes from many places particularly economic policies and realities and religion. Today it is the “right” or “preferred” way to be english speaking, white, able-bodied, straight, married, male, christian, upper middle class (or better), etc. When we push to have conformity, the richness of the world diminishes and whole languages and cultures die. Very sad.
