SDOT‘s been busy south of Admiral. Another texted reader report and photo:
New this morning. First time ever crosswalks at 47th and Charlestown (aka the OTHER West Seattle freeway!)
Note this is the ONLY stop sign on Charlestown west of California.

I believe there is one more stop sign west of California and 47th where Charlestown intersects SW Beach Drive.
Maybe this will encourage drivers to actually stop at this intersection, rather than just blowing through it.
Arbor Heights still waiting for a couple of cross walks to be painted across SW 100 St. where we have no curbs and no sidewalks….seems like the city’s SW corner could get a little paint from the SDoT! Or does it take an engineering study to design & paint crosswalks?
We are way overdue getting this treatment up the hill on the north/south “Greenway” that parallels California (44th and Charleston). I’ve been waiting for these SDOT proposed greenways along California for 30 years. They’ve been promising them and putting them on their maps for over a decade. This is low hanging fruit for safety.
Now do 44th and Alaska next. Also the crosswalk on California/Dawson by CVS is so dicey.
If safety is paramount lets lobby for stop signs and painted crosswalks EVERY block. No more arterials!!! 20mph speed limit with speed cameras everywhere too!!
