I had the house replumbed 5-ish years ago. I ended up using Fairway Plumbing. He works soley in PEX. 206.329.6624.

Fairway came recommended to me by a friend’s realtor. I don’t see that he advertises anywhere. I was satisfied with the price and work.

Sam the Plumber is highly recommended at other places on the blog. Search above for him.

Joe the Plumber is awesome. He might be one of the top recommended plumbers on the WSB.

For future reference everybody, if you do not already own a house with galvanized pipes do not buy a house with galvanized pipes. That should be an absolute deal breaker. Just walk away. Trust me. Other deal breakers should be a side sewer that has not been replaced/plastic sleeved/at minimum had a clean out put in. Also a deal breaker: missing electrical grounds on more than one or two outlets.

I have a house with galvanized plumbing and hope to have it replaced before the summer arrives. Why would this be a deal breaker?

If you had a choice again would you willingly buy a house with galvanized plumbing? I was naive when I bought my house, and would certainly never get another with galvanized plumbing. I’m just trying to warn others.

When we had a main line back up a few years ago, I called every plumber in town at 5am. Even those with “emergency” lines didn’t call back. Best Plumbing actually picked up the phone – not an answering service, but the service manager. He had someone to my house in 15 minutes. They were inexpensive (esp considering it was in off-hours and an emergency sewage mess) and helpful. He spent time looking at the entire system in order to give us some advice of the “when you have the opportunity, you should upgrade this” variety, and telling us what we would be able to DIY.

Fortunately for us it was a rental house, because many of the “remodeled” sections had pipes 1/4″ to 1/2″ too narrow for the flow, which was a big factor in the backup (as were tree roots and baby wipes. Note – even if they say they’re flushable, they are NOT.) The fix took about 3 hours all told with cleanup, and we paid about $350. Not bad for 3 hours’ emergency overtime sewage work.

I could not recommend Best Plumbing any more highly. They’re based on Stone Way in the Wallingford-Fremont border area. How they were at my house in 15 min, I’ll never know.

Joe Cannon of Joe the plumber is the only person I would ever use for plumbing issues – he is fair, honest and great about letting me know how we can save money (for example – he put us in touch directly with a part supplier to order parts so he didn’t have to charge us a mark-up for water heater fix; he emailed me instructions on how to take apart my garbage disposal to fix it myself). He always responds to calls and emails quickly, even when on vacation. 206-285-2434 or http://www.joetheplumberseattle.com and he has a form on his website to email him directly.
