theeParticipantI know this was covered on the HP a few days ago, but I’ve got late-breaking news: Heard from a source that the new BBQ shack (between Tervo’s/Mr. Chong’s and the tai chi place) is shooting for a Nov. 1 opening. The joint is being run by Otis, the owner of OK Corral — a BBQ joint that inspires pretty wildly disparate reviews from yelpers: http://www.yelp.com/biz/ok-corral-seattle.

WSBKeymasterThat’s what he told us along with other stuff he really wanted to keep quiet till his licensing was done. And restaurant openings are NOTORIOUSLY hard to guesstimate (browse our WS Restaurants category for every place we have ever covered; now most of the folks we have talked to either refuse to estimate or slather said estimates in qualifiers, and I totally respect that). I will be checking back with him tomorrow and am going to see if I can go interview him in the wilds of the north end to get a closer look at the current op – TR

ThunderStormMemberSpeaking of Good BBQ! Went to Morning Star Mini Mart there on the corner of 9th and Henderson in Highland Park and found a great BBQ and Sandwich Deli! It was amazing!!!! I had the South Carolina Pulled pork. It had a vinegar coleslaw and Peppercorn Honey Mustard all in the Sandwich. Never seen this around here. The best BBQ Sandwich I have had in long time. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
